Tribute.ca presents MAN OF STEEL

Batman vs Superman update

While writer/producer Zack Snyder spoke to the Los Angeles Times about his new release 300: Rise of an Empire, which hits theaters this Friday, important details were dropped about the highly anticipated Batman vs. Superman film. “We’re getting ready to start shooting in a month or so,” he revealed. “It’s going great. I’m very excited.”

According to Snyder the film will not be confined to any specific storylines in the comic books. “In Man of Steel, we had to create an origin story, a mythology. There’s a lot energy into that, which we love doing. Don’t get me wrong. But when you think about how fun it is too—now that you’ve got these characters—to now let them loose. That’s fun! [it] literally takes the Man of Steel and Batman universe and explodes them.”

Returning to the film are Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Newcomers include Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Snyder said says he doesn’t put much stock in negative online comments. “We know the material,” he promises. “Unfortunately, the fans don’t know the material. So we’re casting according to what’s happening in the script. And we’re hoping that leads enough originality, enough perspective on what we’re doing that you get something fresh and exciting. I understand the canon. I’m not crazy. I know what these characters need from a mythological standpoint.”
